Danny Stone

My name is Danny Stone; I am a 23-year-old Metis female from Prince Albert, SK. While I was in high school I competed nationally in track and field as well as played many sports like basketball, hockey and soccer. I chose to take a scholarship from the U of S where I played hockey for the women’s huskie hockey team for five years. In my rookie season I was named to the Canada West all-rookie team after leading all rookie in our conference in goals. Currently I am living in Calgary where I have recently been drafted into the professional women’s hockey league (CWHL) by the Calgary Inferno. I also love spending my time giving back to youth and sharing with them my knowledge of sports. I have been an Assistant Coach with the female Team Saskatchewan who attends the National Aboriginal hockey championships every year where in the three years that I have coached, we have earned one gold and two silver medals. Also, I have been named as one of the coaches for the Team Saskatchewan track and field team heading to the 2014 North American Indigenous Games next summer in Regina.
Sports have been my way of life. They have kept me focused and out of trouble while growing up. I was able to attain a scholarship to help put me through post secondary education and best of all, has lead me to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.
