Jaimie Thibeault

 

  

Jaimie was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta on September 23, 1989; however, was raised in Sylvan Lake, Alberta since she was four years old. Jaimie is registered with the T’Souke Reserve in British Columbia. She has two older brothers and her parents continue to encourage her volleyball career as it continues to grow today.

Jaimie has always been very active, enjoying outdoor sports including mountain biking, hiking, fishing as well as athletic sports. Her high school athletics also encompassed soccer, basketball, badminton, and track/field. During High School Jaimie was awarded Female Athlete of the year. Lindsay Thurber High School in Red Deer, Alberta was the initial starting point for her volleyball career – in 2007 she assisted her team in winning 4A Provincials and went on to assist her club volleyball team a 2nd place finish at Nationals. 
In 2007 Jaimie was offered and accepted a full-scholarship to the University of Montana where she received many honorable awards for her outstanding athleticism.

A full-scholarship to the University of Montana allowed for Jaimie to major in Elementary Education; this will allow for her to pursue her goal to become a teacher once she has completed her volleyball career. 2008-2010 Jaimie taught Kindergarten through Grade 8 realizing her second passion to work with kids. Jaimie has also been able to work closely with kids throughout her entire volleyball career coaching numerous volleyball camps and after-school programs.


Following University Volleyball, she went on to play professionally at Le Cannet, France during the 2012/2013 calendar year. Her second year of professional volleyball has led her to Robur Tiboni Urbino, Italy where she is playing currently in the A1 league for the 2013/2014 calendar year.


Not only has Jaimie excelled in her volleyball career professionally, but has also had the opportunity to play internationally for Team Canada. Her hard work, determination, and tenacity for the game has been noticed internationally where she received the Best Blocker Award during the 2013 Pan American Cup in Peru. She also contributed by assisting the National Team in 2013 to the Bronze Medal Match during the NORCECA Championships in Nebraska. This will be Jaimie's 5th year with the Women's National Volleyball Program. 

 

Jaimie strives to work hard to refine her athletic skill set, remain a significant contributor to the Canadian National Team on their journey to qualifying for the Olympics in 2016 and continuing her professional volleyball career.
